Indiana State University

Well for starters, does ISU offer an aviation management major (B.B.A.) that has flight courses built into it that will at least get my commercial license?

Hi Kestrel452! I am a graduate of the aviation management program at Indiana State. It seems a lot of people that are also interested in flying will opt for a double major with the pro-pilot degree. They also have an associate's degree that I believe will take you through your commercial. I had a really good experience with the aviation management program. Any questions let me know or PM me.

They have an Aerospace administration program (4-year-B.S.) that many students major in or double major with the pro-pilot degree (4 year-B.S.) because the class requirements are similar or in some cases the same. When I graduated, ISU was working on an MBA program as well with the ISU College of Business (which is well known in the state). I know a few guys who are instructing and doing the MBA grad school thing right now.

I highly recommend that if you do the pro-pilot route, do the double major admin/pro-pilot. It looks better on resumes and doesn't require too many other classes except a few managment and surprisingly CAD.

Another route you could do is major in the Aerospace Admin program and minor in the general aviation program (forget the name but requires only a commercial ASEL). The pro-pilot (4-year) program requires you to get all the way through Comm ASEL/AMEL, CFI, and CFI-I in order to graduate. If you have a lot of funds up front and do summer school, guys have been known to get through in 3 years or so, even double major.

I dont want a BS because i want to get an MBA. I am specifically looking for an aviation BBA program with flight courses built into it so i can at least get my commercial and CFI without TOO many more credit hours added on. Is that sometime ISU can do?

oops, double post...

I am an ISU alumni, and really enjoyed my four years at ISU. I completed the double-major in Professional Flight Technology/Aviation Administration. If you are looking to go to a four year college, I would recommend majoring in Business or another similar major and learning to fly on the side. This way you are diversified in the event that things go south again in the future. Best of luck and let me know if you have any questions.
