Ind / zid

Hi everyone, I applied for PUBNAT7 in December and a few weeks ago got the ASAP notice that I've been authorized to take the AT-SAT. If all goes well, I'm planning to put down Indiana as my top geographic preference since I live in Indianapolis and would prefer not to relocate. What do you guys think my chances are of getting selected for IND or ZID? I'm going to the tower to meet everyone in the next couple of weeks.

I'll save everyone else the trouble of posting: NO ONE KNOWS.

So, I know your exact chaces of getting one of those. Extremely great! Matter of fact the FAA is going to pull your application out like now and send you to OKC next month. Pack your bags!

[modhat]They guy asked a question. If you don't know the answer, then don't bother responding! Snarky responses like the above are NOT what Jetcareers is about.[/modhat]

In all honesty, your best bet is to talk to the facility managers and find out how their staffing levels are. Plus, I wouldn't worry about WHERE you're going to be working right now, but rather getting past the AT-SAT, GeoPrefs, PEPC, and of course, OKC.

I would say to also check some of the PUBNAT threads here and maybe at another site to see facility lists that some users have created from PEPC e-mails. They're not entirely accurate, because they only represent the few of us that have responded (which is by no means a full representation of the entire hiring pool), but it may give you an estimate as to how many people are headed where.

In reality, though, none of us here know who is hiring and what your chances are. Some facilities need lots of people, but the ATO won't send them because of FY09 hiring dollars, so it's a craps shoot. Like swinte00 said, contact the facilities where you're interested in working, and ask for a visit/tour. Talk with the ATM, if they are available, to see what kind of numbers they're looking at for hiring. They may not have any idea, since everyone is basically waiting until October for the next FY, but they may have some kind of idea as to how many retirees they would be having in the next year, as well as attrition rates.

Sorry for the snark in the original post, but there have been many posts asking, "I want to work at X facility; what are my chances?" That's about like asking a blind man what color car your boss drives. He can guess, but the only way to be sure is to ask your boss directly.
