Incentives for Amount of Releases

What would you all think if I told you that a carrier wants to pay based on how many releases you do? I personally think it's a downright idiotic and unsafe practice, but there's a carrier (non 121) that wants to do just that. Their union won't agree to it, thankfully, so that's good at least.

I’m surprised some carriers don’t offer bonuses for the amount of fuel saved. I’m sure it’s relatively easy to do as pretty much all of them track fuel usage, some even individual dispatchers.
I bet a bunch of the pilot's unions have blocked that. Would be easy to make the argument that it could lead to short fueling on bad weather days.

I tend to agree with that sentiment. But to be fair there are some pilots who will insist on adding an unreasonable amount of gas even on blue sky days going to places where there is a C070 airport all around them.

I know most of us work for profit seeking companies, but the role of the dispatcher is primarily safety. Workload management is a critical aspect of a safe operation, so directly linking increased workload to financial incentive would be a hazard in my opinion.
This. Our type A personalities already have problems with admitting defeat with our current workload and asking for help when things become unmanageable. Couple in a release counter for extra money and you go down a very slippery and unsafe path. I would hope the FAA would realize as such and quickly squash any attempt at such.
