In House Interview Vs. Job Fair

Is there a difference between an interview at a job fair or one in house? I mean do you still do the sim and tech parts at a job fair? It would seem that the tech part you could, but maybe the sim may not be able to be done. Any insight?
 
Seems to me like sims at interviews are slowly going away. XJT doesn't have one. PCL got rid of theirs (I guess too many people were busting it). SWA only has a cockpit mockup with a decision making drill (easily set up in a side room, I imagine). Delta doesn't have a sim. That's about it off the top of my head.
 
Thanks for the help. Im mainly wanting to know about the regionals though. Im going to that job fair in DFW this weekend, so I am trying to get an idea of what to expect if I get lucky enough to get an interview.
 
No, there won't be a sim on site. If you pass their initial "interview" there, they'll most likely invite you to their facility for the rest of the interview.

A few regionals that still use sims are Skywest, PSA, TSA, Republic (don't quote me on all of those, but I'm fairly certain)...
 
Colgan still uses one.

Seems Colgan also has a new deal now, where if you are a low time guy and do fairly passable in the sim, and seem to be trainable but not quite ready for class. They will invite you back for some more sim time and put you into some sort of developmental program before putting you into a class. This is what I was told today when I walked into the colgan hq to talk about when I might be able to apply.

I bet they dont. Only reason I say that is because there are only 2 or 3 Saab 340 sims in the US, and with so many regionals training in them, its pretty hard to get one scheduled.

Which is why most airlines will put you into any simulator they can find. Kind of strange flying an MD11 when your going to be put into a Saab.
