I'm getting furloughed

Even though I have not been given the furlough notice yet, heard a rumor yesterday, that turned into a revised bid packet today without my name or those of the other 27 people rumored to be furloughed on it. I guess now I am looking for another job. btw another company that is "not" the same company as mine but is owned by the same holding company is putting into service the same number of aircraft for the codeshare we both fly for that we are parking leading to this furlough.
 
Sorry to hear that - I just read a letter Horizon's leadership wrote to the IBT and stressed their "displeasure" with the teamsters representing GoJets.

Look at this on the bright side - you got your regional fix out of the way, and now you can focus on a job that offers better career progression :).
 
Sorry to hear that. Just reading what you posted, is this the TSA/Go-jet's you are speaking of?
 
I belive that yes in fact, that would be TSA furloughing and GoJets adding the same number of planes to their fleet. The only good news I've seen recently involving all that was Horizon's union (IBT) sending a rather nasty letter to Teasmsters National about how disapointed they were with them representing a place like GoJets.

I'm guessing TSA, I have a friend that just finished OE at ASA and while they have suspended hiring for the time being, I don't think they are furloughing anyone, yet.
 
TSA. Just got a call today from a flight manager, and he said the certified letter is in the mail.
 
Furlough sucks. Been there. Twice.

Try not to let it get you down. There's a new opportunity out there somewhere with your name on it.

Don't know how much this will help, but XJT is hiring. We love guys with previous 121 experience. There are several ex-TSA guys here now. We're hiring until the end of the year. There are good things on the horizon, too. Best of luck to you and sorry to hear about the furlough.

I filled out the online application at XJT a couple days ago (before the furlough notice). Do you know if there is anyway to update it so that they know I am now furloughed from a 121 carrier as I remember that was one of the options on the pilot questionaire part.

i am sorry to hear about your furlough. I have a friend that left TSA just a few months earlier for another airline. Looks like it was a good move. it sucks with all this go-jets fiasco going on. Where do you live? are you from STL? if so thats a double whammy. If not, skywest is hiring and it has a lot of growth potential with domciles spread out all over west of Chicago. Republic, Eagle, PSA, and pinnacle (though there are better options than 9e)are also hiring. I have alsoe heard, if you have the time, Mesa is looking for street capts for the Dash and Colgan is looking for BE1900 capts too. Good luck with everything. And if there is ever a Go-jet jumpseater, i will remind my capt that our MEC refused to sign a reciprocal jumpseat agreement with them.

Can't say that I do. However, was there a current 121 box to check? That should help out.
 
When I got into Dayton today, I had a message from SkyWest saying they want to set up an interview in early July, so hopefully I won't be out of work long.

So, let me get this straight. People are getting furloughed at Transformers and there are people getting hired at GoBots? If that's what I think it is, I'm gonna be SICK.
 
Repulic Airways Holding (CHQ, Shuttle America, and Republic), is hiring if you get desperate but they usually pit one airline against the other.

On second thought you probably don't want to work for them...

I dont understand how they are pitting one against the other? Its as good a regional to work for as anywhere else.
