I'm Done

I wanted to share with my fellow JCers my great news. Today, as I finished my final exam, I have completed all requirements for a bachelor's degree. It's been 12 years in the making, but with deployments, long shifts, reassignments...I'm done. I have completed all requirements for a B.S. in Professional Aeronautics through Embry Riddle's extended campus. I've also earned minors in Aviation Safety and Management. It is a huge weight lifted off my shoulders and I'm anxiously awaiting the sheep skin (paper diploma). If I can offer any advice to those that are struggling through school...stick with it. I'm a dumb ass and if I can do it, anyone can. I have my reasons for taking so long, but it doesn't matter how long it takes, it's the result at the end. To me, I've completed one more step to being a pilot when I retire from the AF and that's what's important. Thanks for listening.

Congrats man!! It took me 9.5 years start to finish, but I am really very glad that I stuck with it. You will be too. Now sit back, grab your favorite adult beverage, relax and savor this moment. they dont come around too often.

That's great to hear man. Good for you! Take care of yourself.

Thanks fellas....it was a lot of work. Joel, I'm still in Korea. I will be home on leave in May and back for good in Oct. I can't wait to get back...two years is a long time gone. How are things going for you?

hey pacman cool, good job !! the ERAU extended campus, I assume you mean the distance learning program right ? if so, how was it ?

IndianaPilot.....yes, it was through there distance learning program. Select military installations have extended campuses, meaning they offer formal classes in a classroom environment. It's like a very small satellite campus in a way....with advisors, instructors, etc..., but you're right, it is also part of the distance learning program. Personally, I enjoyed it...from the first class I took online back in 1996 with ERAU, they have come leaps and bounds with their online program. I'm happy to see the number/availability of courses offered now. It worked great with my schedule, being able to take classes while deploying, during long shifts, and working part time as an A&P for the last 6 years. To me, I'd do it again and would recommend it....aviation is what I do/live, so getting a degree in something aviation related was a no brainer and the only way to go for me. If you have any specific questions, please let me know.

Where at in Korea? Oh how I do miss Osan and that yakimandu! (and of course Smittys) :nana2:

HH-60....I'm at Osan. Been here 15 months now with 9 to go. Oh yeah....the yaki carts after a good night of throwing back a few is great. It's best not to know how that stuff is prepared :-) That and the chicken on a stick...mmmmm. Smitty's spent some time on the off limits list, but is back open to military folks. I've never been in that particular bar, as I have frequented a bunch. If you make it back up this way let me know and we'll hook up for some yaki and beer.

Hehe, thats why I never ate yaki sober

I've been TDY to Osan several times, Smittys was always on/off limits (and for good reason, im sure you know it's the "retirement castle"), but I usually hung out at JJ's (for pool and Moslon Canadian) or Golden Gate anyway.

Same deal, If you ever make it down here for a TDY let me know, we'll do some bar hopping out Gate 2 street

Congratulations on your accomplishment. With my ASEL PPL behind me that's next on my list as well.

As far as Osan and Kadena go, Uncle Sugar never picked me. Even with the extended long volunteer status I was stuck at KHRT. I'll have to get the experience second hand or pay a visit some day.

Congrats!

Congrats PacMan4x4! I know the pain you went through...after 6 years active duty, i'm finding myself 4 classes away from my Bachelor's at ERAU. Now i'm really hoping i can stay away from the looming deployments so i finish this up.

Way to go!
