IFTA anyone???

Hi guys, I know I've taken a hiatus from this forum but I've been busy with a lot of stuff (work, school, family issues, travel, etc.). Anyway, I'm moving near Bakersfield to be near my family and applied to IFTA (ifta.aero) in KBFL. Does anyone know anything about this school? Anyone work there? I've spoken with HR and should get an interview sometime next week. Anyway, any help will be appreciated... thanks!!

*btw, before anyone makes a smart-aleck remark, I DID search for other post but looking for new information

It's legit question bro, sheesh, we're not THAT hard on people!

I thought you were flying corporate or something?!

Haha, just wanted to cover my a$$ cause last time someone mentioned the search engine on here....

I stopped flying corporate last November and went back to instructing in LA, but recent events have forced me to move near my family for the time being. IFTA is the best choice of work around that area. I figured, by the time I'm done working with IFTA I will have high times... at least enough to have one of my buddies help me land another corporate gig.

They have a two year contract and are paid well by CFI standards. That is all I know and I doubt its accuracy but it is probably close.

MAPD bought several of their Bonanza's and one of their barons from IFTA if I remember correctly. They were good when we they were there, I can only imagine the quality that they were upheld to in Cali. One of the bonanza's had almost 20,000 hours on it when I was there...(MAPD).

I've *heard* first year pay is around $35k, not bad. 8-5 type gig.

EEEEEFTA! IFTA I do, IFta I don't!

My new hire roommate and our ground school instructor were ifta guys. Nothing but good things to say about them. Weird place, but good!

From what I've heard you're treated and paid well. I always turned and firewalled it in the other direction when I heard one of their students on the radio, though!

Those dudes actually do a pretty good job of communicating. I would vouch as far as to say that they speak better english than the China Eastern doodes!

Thanks for all the feedback. Seems that everyone has nothing but good things to say about them. I have an interview on Tuesday so I have al weekend to study up for it....

I am also interested at the same place, but I live in Tennessee. How is the cost of living in Bakersfield? Here I pay around $800 for a three bedroom house with two bathrooms, is it similar? Please tell me how the interview went...

My friend had bought a house out there about 4 years ago when he moved out there for IFTA. It was the same price to buy than it was to rent. I beleive his home was about $110,000 or so, it is now over $250,000 I beleive. Still much cheaper than the average southern california home which is around $650,000.

Wow, from the website, that place looks more like a resort, then a flight training acadamy. Not half bad if you have to leave your place and come over to Cali for flight instruction. Too bad it's in Bakersfield, and not in a nicer/cooler place.
