Hey guys....i'm very interested in taking a visit to the Aviator and checking it out in the next couple of months. I have some questions for you guys there, or anyone who has visited? The Aviator and maybe the ATP locations are the only schools in Florida that I would be interested in visiting. I'll be coming in from Dallas....so as my questions go
1. What airline should I fly, and what airport should I fly into?
2. I will only be there for 2 days at most, so whhat days are best to come?
3. Where is the best place to stay?
4. Feel free to give me advice on anything I missed!
Thanks to all-

I flew into orlando and drove down from there last wed till friday. I flew airtran but you might be able to get Southwest (i'm guessing) out of DFW. Also, I think West Palm Beach is only 45 minutes away compared to the 1 3/4 hour drive from Orlando. I stayed at the Motel 6 in Fort Pierce which is right off I-95...real easy to find and cheap (42.00/night) if you book the room on the Motel 6 site. They have some internet specials on there that are cheaper than travel sites.

Yeah, the West Palm Beach airport is really close to Ari-Ben and the Stuart ATP location, so I think that would be the best airport to fly into (if the price is right). Fort Lauderdale is also closer than Orlando. I don't know exactly who flies out of Dallas, but both of those airports are cheap to fly into and like WVU said I'm sure Southwest could get you there cheap.

Does anyone know how often Ari hires instructors off the street that didn't train there? What if that person came in with their multi-engine commercial and then did their CFI training there, would they have a chance of getting hired?

Thanks

I really can't answer for sure but it was my understanding that they only hire graduates of their 200 Multi and Pro Course tracks.

A direct quote from their website:

"Instructors
All Aviator instructors are graduates from either our Professional Pilot Course or our 200-hour multi-engine course."

Highly unlikely. Many CFI's applied when I was there. None were hired. Insurance requires minimum 200 hrs multi time.
