This town is going to be a zoo in about 3 hours

4/5167 SPECIAL NOTICE... WASHINGTON, DC. EFFECTIVE 0406111430 UTC (JUNE 11, 1030 LOCAL) UNTIL 0406111945 UTC (JUNE 11, 1545 LOCAL). ALL WAIVERS TO FDC NOTAM 3/2126, WASHINGTON, DC METROPOLITAN AREA FLIGHT RESTRICTED ZONE (FRZ) THAT ARE IDENTIFIED BY A THREE (3) LETTER AUTHORIZATION CODE BEGINNING WITH (ADO), (CRP), (CSO), (ENG), (MD3), (PAT), (PIC), (POA), OR (SVY) ARE HEREBY SUSPENDED DURING THE TIME PERIOD INDICATED ABOVE. WIE UNTIL UFN

4/5182 FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS WASHINGTON DC, JUNE 11, 2004. PURSUANT TO TITLE 14, SECTION 91.141 OF THE CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS, AIRCRAFT FLIGHT OPERATIONS ARE PROHIBITED WITHIN THE FOLLOWING AREA(S) UNLESS OTHERWISE AUTHORIZED BY ATC. 3.0 NMR BLW 3000 FEET AGL OF 385550N/0770420W OR THE DCA347004 FROM 0406111430 (1030 LOCAL 06/11/04) UNTIL 0406111945 (1545 LOCAL 06/11/04) WIE UNTIL UFN

The second one (4/5182) doesn't sound too bad, just shutting down a 3 NM (radius) area up to 3000 feet AGL for 5 hours and 15 minutes (1030 local to 1545 local, on Friday). Not like those 30NM monsters the Prez gets sometimes that last for a couple of days.

What are the ramifications of the first Notam (4/5167), though? I'm not familiar with what the waivers to 3/2126 entails without doing some homework. Can someone familiar with it fill me in?

it basically just means that those pilots who were given waivers by the fsdo to operate within the prohibited area 15m radius off of dca can not operate. people like my buddy who flight instruct out of potomac(vkx i think) will be grounded during this notam. there will be a series of low level flyovers as well by fighter jets. i think the 2nd notam pertains to when those vips are all in town for the service.....ronnie should be landing any minute now.

Thanks for the clarification.

Could be a lot worse, I suppose, if they implemented those for the whole time RR's body was in town, rather than just a few hours on Friday. A pain for everyone in that area either way.

yeah, really nothing new....just need to be careful....fss considers a full tfr explanation a part of the standard brief..whether you ask or not.

The big 30 nautical mile TFR's are popping up for Dubya's trip to California (for the funeral) tomorrow evening, then Texas for the weekend. There's a TFR for Florida on Monday (edited, don't know if this one's Dubya's).

Gotta love it.

FL looks like they are just re-issuing the Disney TFR. Aparently, the magic is ruined if small planes fly below 3000 feet over Disney. However, above that the magic remains intact. I fly over it all the time on IFR flight plans. Got some great pics of the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Even got some shots of the new coaster under construction at Animal Kingdom. Oh yeah, and you can SO tell that the "bus parking" over by the Contemporary is a runway.....

If you get a squawk from MCO ATCT you can fly over Disney at 1000'

I see banner towers doing it all the time. Looks like the "agenda" backfired

Either that or just go do practice approaches into ISM. I think Disney should ask for a refund for their special interest "contribution."

(Note: I have no proof that Disney has contributed to the "keep people from flying over us fund." They are just an evil empire that must be destroyed.)

I like how they just cut off most of northern LA there. Nobody flies out of there, right? Right.
