I didn't turn into a pumpkin and....

For the first time ever I met a FAA inspector who didn't make me want to eat glass.

I renewed my CFI at the Juneau FSDO and it was a pleasant and informative experience. It makes me fear being enrouted or ramped just a little bit less. The best part is I can inflict pain and suffering upon unsuspecting victims for the next two years!

Best experience I ever had with an FAA employee was when I renewed my CFI, the guys walks out and introduces himself and it turns out to be my airlines POI. Turned into 30 minutes of BSing. I was expecting to be grilled about CFI stuffs.

In 10 years I've yet to have a negative experience with the FAA. I've got them a bit confused a time or two but never had anything go bad. If you mean well they will be good. I'm sure they have their bad days but so does the rest of the world.

ESA: if the POI ever wants to go for a ride with you (company), jump up and down and volunteer to take him.
He is simply awesome. You'll learn a whole lot from him. I still have his request slip on the fridge, between the drug test and checkride forms.

The FAA isn't too bad up here. I've only met one d-bag maintenance guy who tried to pull a fast one on one of our dudes.

Spokane FSDO have a lot of pretty cool people, they are all ex airline pilots and have a million hours each. I see them at the airport all the time and we will sit around BSing stories and stuff. But when it comes to check rides man they drill the crap out of ya.

JNU FSDO guys are pretty cool IMHO. The people that have problems with them are the people that create their own problems with them. And that's all I'll say on that.

I've dealt with some in Florida and Texas that should be allowed out of their home unsupervised, much less making decisions about aviation. Some of them were rude, some of them were ill-informed, and some of them were just plain sinister.

I'm glad I finally had a positive experience because I really, really don't hold FAA inspectors in high regard which won't end well whenever I'm ramped.

Who knows. I'm also nice to cops when they pull me over.
