I am alive but grounded

Hello everyone,

For those who remember me it has been a while since I posted here but being my birthday I got the JetCareers email and I decided to return. I hope you all are well, safe, and hope we have lost no pilots since in my absence.

As for me, I am grounded. I had taken a break from flying to discern my vocation as a priest back in 2007 and then kind of didn't do anything more with it. On Thanskgiving of 2009 I had a gran ma seizure and having had at least one in the past I was formally diagnosed with epilepsy. I had an MRI of the brain and an EEG, and while the MRI came back normal the EEG showed seizure activity in the left temporal lobe, the seat of memory, smell, and taste. So I do not know if I will be flying again since I will have to get a waiver and that will be hard. It's not like I can pull over on the next cloud, mind you, if I start feeling strange! When a seizure is comning there is what is called an aura, an unpleasant disoriented feeling. Obviously that would make it hard to fly, and when I finally have the actually seizure I think I need not say what would happen!

I am in college now, a sophmore majoring in liberal arts. I just thought I would let everyone know I am not dead. I do miss flying and want to go everytime I pass my home airport where I did that first solo! But maybe one day....sigh....

Well sorry to hear about your recent developments that have left you grounded, but hopefully you enjoy your liberal arts education. I know I had a great time when I went through mine.

Hang in there and I'm sure everything will work out. Glad to have you back around. Happy Birthday!
