Hurricane Aftermath

Hmm... MSY got lucky I guess, roofs were a little roughed up. Then again, there weren't too many planes out there during the storm. I'll have to go check out Lakefront airport some day this week. Of course, I'm sure it didn't do too well considering it's built on a manmade peninsula out in the lake where there were some pretty big waves and lots of wind.

I checked out some aerial photos of lake front after the storm. Wasn't too pretty. And I couldnt even find the casino riverboat.

Hey. My dad went down to the Lakefront this morning and drove around the airport for a whiles. While he didn't come back with any pictures he said lots and lots of structures down. Here's a few from a local flight school...

It's an aerial photo of at least half of the airport a few days after katrina. You can see boats by the nearby marina that look like dead fish washed up on shore. The airport is drier than the houses on the other side of the levee because of levee break on the canals and waterways. Very sad. You can see some choppers and whatever planes were left over. Hangars roughed up a little.
