How Many Hours?

Hi, i am still keeping my options open for college and since I see that many think that ERAU is a waste of money, I am just getting more info to see if it really is worth it. Are there any Alumni who graduated with an Aeronautical Science degree? If so, how many hours did you come in with and graduate with? Thanks

I graduated with an AS degree this May with Commercial Multi/Single CFI/CFII and I ended up with 240 total 60 multi. That was the Prescott, AZ campus.

i start school sept 10th at the louisiana tech university, which offers degrees in aviation biz management, and professional aviation. im majoring in professional aviation, b/c my private counts for 8 hours of credit and, if i take my instrument written before then, it will be worth 6 hours.

my cfi graduated from there in december with about 500 hours. the last 100, of course, coming from being a cfi for the university's flight school, while majoring.

I flew approximately 100 hours at Riddle for instrument, commercial single and commercial multi. That was with only one XT flight (eXtra Training) and a re-check as the result of sloppy maneuver on my commercial single end of course check ride. If you want to completely suck at flying, I'm sure you can accumulate more hours in your log book.

I'm too lazy to do the real math since I did quite a bit of flying at home during the summers when I was home.

The only flight course I did at ERAU was the instrument course. I ended up in that with just over 21 hours (21.7) of airplane time, with about 25 or so in a simulator. That was basically as low as you could get that course. I think I ended up doing 1 sim session more than was required. The cross country I did was just long enough, to meet the requirements.

Came in with like 5hrs, left with ~140ish I think, didn't do my CFI there and there was a lot of solo x-country time just because I was young and there was a 150 for rent for $40 bucks an hour so me and a friend did the east coast one weekend. I think I had 100 hours dual or something like that...

Program has changed soooo much since I was there. Used to be 60 a flight hour for a brand new 172 w/ GPS. Now it's more than 2x that.

Prescott Campus- AS Degree (180,000 (dollars, not hours)). Came in with 0, graduated with 264 hours total and 74 multi. Went from private to CFI/II but not MEI.

Holy Jesus!!! I dont even know what to say.... What on earth would a payment on a $180,000 student loan be? And where are you working that you are capable of paying that?

I started with 0 and ended with about 750. I became in instructor during the beginning of my Junior year and started out with 7 students as a partimer and really built some time quick. Once I graduated in May of 2009 they layed me off.

About 50. Left with about 260ish. Of course, this was under the '89-'90 catalog program.

I graduated with an AS degree and two minors in Safety and Industrial Hygiene. I gained over 300 hours, as well as my Commercial single/multi, CFI, CFII, and started my MEI. I graduated last May.

Is that learning how to clean toilets or something?

No, Industrial Hygiene makes me the nightmarish worker who can recognize a hazard and hold the threat of OSHA over your head (and makes me capable of performing audits myself). It's more like hazard control than anything... Took it with the intent of eventually getting a degree in Accident Investigation.

Oh, and on my education, I spent about $40,000. Thank you god for scholarships!

I was thinking of going to Embry Riddle as well, but couldnt get any real info on the hours flown.
How many hours under the current program? Without counting CFI program, how many hours of multi time? Someone told me 55-60 actual time on aircraft, without counting the FTD. DOes that sound right or am I way off the mark?

Well I techically went through the current program. I broke 200 on my CFI checkride. So I would say 150-160 up to single engine commercial. I did my multi after I go my CFI. I got 15 hours of actual multi flight time.
