How Long to CFI Job after sending out resumes?

I was wondering for those current and former CFIs among us about how long it took from the time you sent out your first flight instructor resume to the point when you were hired on?

I have just started sending out a few resumes to a few prospective flight school employers and but have not reached the point where I am giving them out like free food at a convention because I have exactly 3 months to go with my university education experience.

I was lucky, I got my cfi and the school I got it at needed a cfi, gave 'em a resume and was hired a few days later.

Didnt even send one out :)

I happened to hear my old school was in need of CFII/MEIs so I gave them a call, and 3 days later I was workin

you can send out all the resumes you want but nothing beats going to the flight school in person and handing them your resume. I was in a similar situation, where i was in daytona graduating from riddle and moving back to NY. I tried getting ahead but everyone i talked to at the flight schools back in NY was "give me a call when you get into town". well the first flight school i went to in person i got hired at.

good luck

I went a little overboard with it...I divided FL into five "zones," and pounded the pavement in each one, from my most favored to least. Started with my alma mater, interviewed, but got put into the "hiring pool." So I drove to every flight school within a 30 mile radius of DAB, and spoke with the chief pilots, and sent resumes to my second "zone." (Tampa) Got two calls within a week of each other. Worked down in EVB, then Riddle called seven months later:) Best of luck.

I got hired even before I was a CFI. Of course I didn't fly with students until I got it, but i got my AGI, then got hired as an ground school instructor at the school I was working on my CFI at, and was given flight students as soon as I got back from my CFI checkride.
