Hey, I'm all for it. I'd rather see the government invest some money into a US corp, than building a Yacht Club in the Mohave.

P-8, F-22, and Marine One replacement do create some jobs. Just not real feel good jobs. (although I still don't understand why military aircraft can be built by foreign governments...)

Personally, I don't want dignitaries and diplomats flying commercial into Saudi Arabia (or other far off land to conduct official government business).

That said, there is no reason why the House should be asking for any more funding than the DoD has asked for.

Domestically, members of congress fly commercial to and from their districts.

The Speak of the House, considering the position's relation to potentially being President should two other heartbeats stop is provided with government resources to return back to their respective district and for official government business domestically. Which, I don't necessarily think is such an evil thing. And of course, the Speaker can choose to use alternative modes of transportation whenever they see fit (example was in the article posted).

Internationally, if on official government business, the DoD handles the lift.
