Hours Flown By Reserve Pilots Per Year?

I am wondering on average what each airlines model is for reserve pilots. We have been having an interesting debate at my airline forum about this very issue. Right now on average the person whom bids second round is averaging around 450 hours YTD. And will be well over 600 hours on average by the end of the year. This just seems extremely high to me but I am very curious about other airlines..... I know many whom I have spoken to at places like SWA/DAL whom flew last year 300 or fewer hours. But I am curious about other places as well.

Currently scheduled to be at 455hrs of block by the end of September for 2009. But CJC and reserve pilots are not the same as other airlines.

My first 12 months of flying I did 613hrs of block.

I have never held anything other than a reserve line.

I've been on reserve since feb '09 and it seems like it turns into a normal line, just with less days off. Maxed at my 30/7 at the moment.

Im at 370 hrs so far this year, with a big chunk of it flown during the summer schedule.

When I was at Comair, the amount of flying on reserve varied. Comair does abuse the crap and uses their reserves A LOT, however, a lot of it is duty time and deadheading. I'd say I was flying between 40-50 hrs a month, but I would be crediting close to monthly guarantee or would go over guarantee. I remember there was one month where I deadheaded close to 30 freakin' hours!!! Ridiculous!

Yet that's how it should be. Really if you end up about 400-500 a year that's what one should expect to fly, at a max, on reserve (IMO).

Yup, I'll probably end up around 500-550 hrs flown this year. Here's a breakdown:

Jan:73(Lineholder)
Feb:22
Mar:41
Apr:7(hehe)
May:29
Jun:48
July:68
Aug:78(so far)

It varied at Horizon...My first year Feb 07-Feb 08, I flew 745 hours. The first 2 bids were slow for me. Starting in June that year through late Oct, I was averaging 107 credit hours a bid (roughly 95 hours of block in a 35 day bid, not 30 day bids), topped out at 118.6 credit hours from Aug - Sept with 99.6 block.

You know, someday I hope to live in base again and bid reserve. My goal is to fly between 200-300 hours a year max. The rest of the time I'd spend at home doing honey-do work, playing with my dog, or playing XBox. I can still remember what that was like, and it was awesome.

Commuting to reserve? Fly me 999 hours a year please. Preferably 999 hours by December 1st. ;)
