Honest thoughts on Commutair

I have an interview soon with Commutair, and was interested but not overly excited. Now with the current climate, I'm really not sure what to think.

They told me they have growth plans but we didn't really have much discussion yet to know what they were referring to exactly. And just days later UA announced they were cutting schedules. Add on the TSA announcement, I'm just not sure if it would be a wise move or not.

Anybody interested in talking a bit about it, possibly via private message? I'd love to get an idea of the true inside feelings, and not just a recruiter telling me everything is gonna be fine.
 
I would say, do the interview and assuming you have nothing else in the pipeline, and they offer you a job...I would take it for now. I am assuming this is/would be your first 121 gig? Then get in and get some 121 time under your belt. With all the shut downs and furloughs going out I would think there will be more than a few exp dispatchers looking for jobs real quick.
I have a few Pilot buddies at the regionals and they all agree that its' the beginning of the end of the regional market EXCEPT for the wholly owned's and of course the gorilla in the room....OO.
 
We'll see there's kinda my issue. I'm already at a regional. Not at the top of my seniority list, but high enough that if they start sending people home, I'm confident I'm safe.

And let's face it, with regional pay, there isn't a chance I'd be able to afford any type of "voluntary unpaid leave".

Up until the TSA announcement I thought it would be a fine choice as it would get me closer to home, but if 2 months down the road they furloughed me, I'd be forced to look for a new career unfortunately.
 
Personally I wouldn't make any moves that put you on the bottom of seniority right now, unless CommutAir is where you want to spend your life (unlikely.) United is in a hiring freeze and the business direction is kind of in limbo. Generally the thought is this will be temporary, but there's a lot of risk for very little benefit it seems.

QFT! Seniority is everything in the airline business; your life is chained to your number. Besides, as the new guy or gal on the bottom of the list, you'll be among the first sent home if it comes to that...
 
For what it's worth, I only meant that as it isn't my dream job. I think if people said they were really excited about a very much lateral move, they either are trying to get out of a • situation or there are other extenuating circumstances. I wasn't disparaging any company by any means.
