So I'm delivering a plane this week to the Norfolk, VA, Currituck, NC area.. I could get a commercial flight back to Dallas, but I think it'd be more fun to air-hitchhike.

Do people do this? How? Any tips? Anyone wanna give me a ride? lol

Obviously, I can just hang out and ask people I see. Has anyone done this?

I'm on the west coast I'm sorry I can't help.

It would be nice to have a forum or a sub-forum tittled GA Free Rides or something like that.

I seem to remember a "ride-share" website with people who'd register their planned flights with the purpose of sharing rides like that....

I have no idea how long ago this was, or what the website was.

You may be thinking of ... http://www.pilotsharetheride.com/

It's an ok site ... but a lot of the posts are really, really old, and then don't date stamp them - so you have no idea if someone is looking for a ride this april, or last.

i'll probably show up on mon or tues the 27 or 28th.

I can drive to any airport near Currituck such as norfolk or elizabeth city.

I'd love to hitch a ride as far as I can get toward Dallas. If someone can only take me as far as another big city, I'd appreciate that. I can catch commercial from there. Any help appreciated.

So you're delivering a plane and they are not getting a ticket back for you? Or are you just choosing to do so on your own?
