hiring

roundout

anybody here besides me and lucas attending the hiring workshop today-wednesday? i think my interview went pretty well...i haven't flown a plane since june, i'm not sure how the sim and airplane rides will go (assuming i pass the round table in the morning).

have they posted the list of people who move on to the sim and plane phase? Or do they let everyone fly the sim and plane and then announce who is hired?

they're going to post the results of the interview/round-table tomorrow at 12:30. then from that list they're going to do sim rides and airplane stan rides. that's how they explained it to us this morning. i thought originally that the round-table was today and the results were posted at 5pm today, but that apparently isn't the case. too many applicants, methinks.

they put up a photo of you (no joke) on a projector TV and flight instructors, groundschool teachers, and other staff sit around and talk about you. they talk about your habits, how you dress, how you carry yoruself, your work habits, your work ethic, etc etc etc. to me this seems like an exaggeration of the truth, but the horror stories passed down to new applicants sound about like this. maybe icelandair can seperate the truths from the myths?

Can't really tell you any more than you know about the roundtable. They do put your picture up and discuss what they know about you. What exactly, i have no clue. Its super secret in that room like a Skull and Bones society meeting /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

When i got hired i found out at 5 the same day. Sucks to have to sleep on it. You may be right too many applicants may be the case because it looks like they tried to reduce the number of interviews they had to do. By the way i heard the written test isnt' worth points anymore, its just pass/fail? Is that true?

Good luck to you if you applied!

actually, the written (from what i heard) IS worth points. apparently instead of everything being 5 points, they changed the grading scale and the written test, interview, and round-table are all worth 10 points each. the written weeded out people who couldn't score 60% or above, which turned out to be about 60 of 250 applicants. note, these are all rumors floating the halls...i have no idea what's actually going on /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Matt set me up with Mark Hastings tomorrow at 11, so I'll let you know how it went.

What did you do on the flight? I have heard it has been nothing too bad.

Congrats

it was pretty easy. you go do a few maneuvers, stalls, steeps, slow flight, couple landings and you're set. 1.0.

So you are only up for an hour and both of you do maneuvers? Sounds pretty good to me, and congrats again.

nope, shoulda clarified. it's 1.0 each. pretty much everyone up went over to warren, there were 5 planes in Alpha/Bravo and at Warren BEFORE we left and flew east into Delta to get away from them.

we were gone for a bit more than 2 hours as we had to stop in warren and swap seats, wait for the cropduster, etc.

you'll make it, the ride really isn't that hard. i have no doubt if you made it this far you can do S-turns and stalls.
