Hiring situation at AirNet?

I was just wondering what the hiring situation is like at AirNet right now. I've got an interview scheduled for a couple weeks from now, but with how fast things have been changing in the pilot jobs world recently, I'm wondering if freight companies like AirNet are going to be filling up fast now too since almost none of the regionals are hiring. I'm worried there won't be any jobs left soon! Granted, I have much higher times than most of the people that were applying to the regionals six months ago.

So long as you have your 135 mins (which it looks like you do), then I don't think you'll have an issue. Though I expect that classes will slow down at some point in the near future unless something new comes up.

I just interviewed on Thrs. They advised that they are fully staffed at this time, but are continuing to interview (keep the pool filled I guess).

I interviewed back in march this year. I have a class date in a week. Right now I have only about 725 total time so I imagine they are still hiring, but I would figure that they would slow down pretty soon.

I spoke with recruiting there yesterday. They were very upbeat and enthusiastic, and said nothing about slowing hiring, or anything like that. I, too, tend to think that the slowdown must be coming...but they said they were still hunting 50 pilots or so for the remainder of the year. For what's it's worth.......

:)

There will always be attrition at a company that has 150+ pilots. On that note, I haven't seen anyone leave the company yet in the past few months. Who knows, maybe by the summer there will be a mass exodous (sp):o

Of course not, they're recruiters! Just like Kit Darby is still clamoring about a pilot shortage!

So if they're fully staffed, does that mean they're only basically hiring reserve pilots right now or are they just hiring into a pool with an unknown class date for new hires?

They're probably hiring in a pool to keep up with forecast attrition. Last year, like everywhere else, we were well short of pilots and had to charter a lot of our runs away.

You make recruiters out to sound evil. They're not tricksters. They don't want you working here if you don't want to be.

That's not completely true. Apparently you haven't heard what CW and his clan have been up to....

I had been tentatively assigned a class date of June 23rd for an SIC position, but received an e-mail Friday that the class was cancelled due to low turnover at AirNet. That makes sense to me given the current state of the industry, and I'm looking forward to working for AirNet eventually! Fortunately I have a good CFI gig going now. :)

Wow - so it looks like classes are canceled completely, or just being delayed due to lack of attrition? Guitar, could you elaborate a little more please (welcome to JC and Airnet)?

I haven't been in this game very long and the hiring outlook has gone from famine to feast back to famine.

I'll tell you the version you hear on the line and on 55 are way off. I hope that's is not what you are thinking "they are up to".
I heard it from the horses mouth not too long ago (if we are thinking of the same story). I know it allllllllll:laff:

Thanks for the welcome ljg! I'm looking forward to using JC - it appears to be a great resource.

There's not a whole lot to elaborate on - my story is that I interviewed in February, was placed in the hiring pool (670 TT at the time, currently 810 TT). About a month ago I was tentatively placed in the June 23rd class, and was told confirmation would come in early June. Friday I got an e-mail saying that since the airlines have all but stopped hiring, AirNet's turnover is way down and the June 23rd class is cancelled. The e-mail did not contain details on the status of other class dates or any speculation on when they might start up again. So I'm playing the waiting game, but as I said, I like my current CFI gig, am looking forward to getting the opportunity to finish up a few more students, and am not too concerned - it will happen when it happens.

Just curious...how could you get hired at Airnet with less than 135 PIC mins?
