Just got the call from Mesaba and they offered me a PT job working the ramp. It is grunt work, but the Networking opportunites are there too be had. Eventhough it is a ways off for me (hours wise) Mesaba has hired several instructors from my flight school. One CFI that I flew with a month or so ago just got hired by them to fly the AVRO-RJ. By coincidence, he too worked PT as a ramp agent.

Training starts 9/10. WooHoo.

Congrats! Indeed it will lead to great networking ops. I worked the line for three months, then switched to the front desk and I've met a TON of corporated pilots!

Who knows.... maybe one of them may someday know someone who knows someone who needs my services.

Best of luck!!

When it Rains, It Pours......

So Mesaba offers me a job today and then I take the kids out to Camp Snoopy at the Mall of America. I get home and there is a phone message for an interview and an email as well from a rather large corporate/charter FBO operator at the field I fly out of. I will talk to them on Monday and see what they have to say...

Re: When it Rains, It Pours......

might as well, you have nothing to lose on that end! good luck, let us know what happens!

Lucky....I am not sure how lucky it was. What's that word I have heard around here so often Network, Network, Network ! This stuff really works.

Re: When it Rains, It Pours......

honestly, luck has nothing to do with anything (most of the time)... it's all about working hard and doing the things that have to be done in order to succeed in getting to where you want to be...and the good thing is that in this field, as we're seeing all over the place, it really does pay to consistently network! not all fields are like that.
