The DA20-C1 is a great plane.
The DA20-A1 is another issue.
If you have the C1 model to use, you'll be happy. Thing rockets off the ground. Hardest part is really slowing it down. Cables are only used for the rudder, so stick controls are nice and tight. Throw in T/O flaps, full power, and rotate in a couple seconds, climb 58kts until 400AGL, go to cruise flaps, and 75kts. Doing this ok puts you about 400-500AGL at by the time you are over the end of our 4500' runway on takeoff. I've never flown one solo, but I'm sure it'll climb better with less weight. Do a good familiarization flight in it for yourself before you start putting students in it. Make sure you get the normal landing attitude down, and the no flap landing attitude. Have fun.
Oh, and congrats on the job!
