High School

I wanted to share a bit of info that has me estatic. My high school has a small alumini message board where no one ever posts anything, but I was surfing around it on for kicks and came across a page that listed different careers and I saw "Airline/Pilots/Mgmt" so I clicked on it and up came about 20 names. This is a very small site too, I didn't think anyone went on it for the most part. Well, most graduated in the 70's and 80's (so probably in their mid 40's now). Now a little bit of background info for anyone reading this; I went to a small private high school with 700 students total in 2003 which is huge for us. Back in the 70/80's there was closer to 300 total. For this many names to show up was estatic.

I became more curious and spent a few bucks to get a biography of each person and found out that there are 747 Captains and F/O's for United, a couple American Airlines Captains and Southwest Captains, and other Cargo jets.

I have addresses/ emails and phone numbers for all and I've emailed all of them a small short message that I am alumni and share an interest in aviation and hope to one day be an airline pilot.

I hope they respond because this would be some great networking, especially since they are in their 40's and will be up in the ranks when I'm ready to start handing out resumes to majors.

The point of this is to check into your OWN high school alumni, especially if it small because it could be some great networking. I will keep you updated if I make any new friends.

No it's my own school's alumni site.

Update, I just found out that the new alumni director for my school is a United 747 Captain and lives 3 miles away. The same guy that I just emailed actually. Tiny High School, so maybe I can pursuade him to come flying with me one day.

Was the website you used classmates.com?

[/ QUOTE ]classmates.com and reunion.com don't give out addresses & phone numbers..not even email addresses.. they just have a little PM area where you can send an email to someone on there.

Since this post got knocked to the top I figured I'd post an update on my NETWORKING!

I met with this United 747 Captain and we bonded! He is a great guy, he graduated from my school in '73 and I in '03.

He'd rather talk about our school than flying, but I got some great info out of him and I learned a lot although he discourages me from pursuing an Airline or even military career. He is a retired F-15 pilot in the Air National Guard and is now a Sr. Pilot for United.

Anyway, he invited me to stay at his fishing camp last weekend because we were having an alumni fishing rodeo.

It was a kick in the a$$ to sit around and drink beer and talk one on one with this guy.

Here is a picture of us last weekened - Here!

He flies internationally too!!

I'm glad I met this guy, he's full of information!!

COOL....great networking....

Looked at the other pics....man do I miss suck'n heads!!!!

I have got to get back down south soon!

No doubt. It's tough to find good crawfish in Florida (and N Texas for that matter). There's some good places along the Mississippi River in MS, but nothing beats some good ole LA crawfish.
