Want to Buy High End Sunglasses need Recomendation:

So I've finally decided to splurge and upgrade from my pharmacy sunglasses to something better. To make this happen I'm willing to spend up to $130. Unfortunately for me I have quite a large head and it can be difficult to find a pair that is comfortable for cross country flights. Are there any significant differences between the brands like Ray Ban and Oakley size wise? Are there any features that a pair of glasses must have? Any product suggestions?

I have a large head also. I find that Oakleys are very comfortable.

I have this sunglasses: Serengeti Aviator http://www.opticsplanet.net/serengeti-driversgradient-aviator.html I got the drivers gradient lenses which are supposed to be for pilots, they are amazing for flying, I wear them at the beach too and they could be a bit darker for that, but they work just fine...I had Ray Bans before and I think Serengetis are much nicer and built better. I'm getting myself a new pair for X-mas, with darker lenses, I like this glasses too http://www.vedalohd.com/segment.aspx?id=1 but you can't get them Rx...at least for me they don't work
 
Be sure to look at the Maui Jim line. They have great lenses. Many styles have a low profile temples which ft comfortably under a headset.
 
I have the Vedalo HD ones and they are awesome for comfort because of the flex body style. I use them as backups but if you like I'll send you some pics of them and let them go for $75.

Have the same pair of glasses, like them alot, found them on ebay for 99 shipped brand new.
 
I have a set of Raybans and I love them! The frames are fairly thin so they dont break the seal on my headset.
 
In all my flying, I've found that my 20 dollar shades gave me no disadvantage.
If you must splurge I reccomend costco.

As a good headset for hearing protection, sunglasses should be of good quality and protection. Especially when flying high they are a must.

If you get the Serengetis they will last you for long time, if you brake anything on it they will be fixed under warranty, the lenses are not plastic so they also last for long time...

I'll second that. The hold up well and serengeti take care of their customers. I accidentally sat on mine one time and broke the frame. I told them what I had done and they sent me a brand new pair out for only $60. Seem fair to me for $120 pair of glasses.
 
I just picked up a pair of Wiley X's. I have a wierd head (smaller) and they fit perfectly. I have the Blinks so if you have a large melon, you may want to choose a different style.
