I have to go through a hernia surgery soon, meeting with the surgeon tomorrow. I won't fly until I am cleared to return to work by my surgeon, and until I feel good to go.

I should probably know the answer to this, but do I need to report this to the FAA before my next medical? My AME?
 
How long did you stay out @djnk954 ? Just had a integral hernia confirmed as well. Looking for more information before I proceed to schedule surgery? Just schedule it and report this on the next medical as well? Thanks ahead of time.

I had a double inguinal last year at 50 and was out for about two weeks.

I reported it on my next Class I three months later...no worries.
 
Sorry for the necro post. Does anyone know if the medical examiner can issue a new medical while you’re still in recovery from a hernia but before you return to work?
