Help with Letter Factory

Hi there,

I'm taking the AT-SAT this coming monday on Nov. 9th in Cali and was wondering about the letter factory portion of the test.

I've been practicing with the ATC Career Prep book and the program says I missed a lot of letters on the letter factory. But there wasn't a box to put the letters cause there was already a letter with that color in the box! is that normal? i like.. missed 741 letter and saved 750....

Does anyone know of a strategy that would help?

If two or more letters of the same color are on the screen just click on as many boxes as you need. On the actual test there are a few times where you will have two and I think even three boxes of the same color on the bottom of the screen....good luck.

yes but what if there are already letters in the boxes

for example:
a red "A" is coming down the belt.
In both red boxes at the bottom of the belt, both boxes already have a red "A".
There is no where to put the red "A" coming down the belt.

This seems to happen a lot in the practice program. what should i do?
I feel like i'm doing something wrong...

Don't worry about it. I just took the test on Oct 9th and had no problem. I was sweating the same thing. On the actual test a letter won't be given unless you can actually use it. Good luck. I hope this helps.

yeah the test is a lot easier...but i would practice on the cd rom...you do well on that you will be fine...if you get used to the speed, it will be a lot slower on the real thing.

haha thanks guys

thing is i'm not doin so hot on the practice cd

the results say i'm missing a bunch of letters.. but theres no where to put them!

but if the real test doesn't have useless letters, then I think i can relax a bit

I would not use the letter factory practice on the CD, it is VERY different than the one on the AT-SAT. You will miss many letters on the CD sim because it will keep sending letters of the same color and letter when there is obviously no place to place those letters. On the actual test, it will actually penalize you for placing boxes you don't need, and will only send letters down that are needed to complete a box. So you won't end up with a constant flurry of green As and Bs, when you need a green D to complete a box.

Also, the questions it asks are completely different. On the CD, it asks you questions that requires you to remember how many times you hit the quality control button throughout the sim, etc. On the real test, it only asks you questions pertaining to the problem that just ran, usually what letters you would need to complete a box or what color box you would have needed to place next.

Yeah... throw the CD away. Then burn whatever you threw it into. It's terrible.

A lot of PUBNAT8 people have been saying good things about ATC-SAT.com. I haven't seen it myself, but it sounds like it's worth the cost... $30 I think. The Letter Factory practice is supposed to be pretty good, and it's the only other place you'll find it.

Hey man!

I'm surprised you're near a computer after the September you had! ;)

Hey man!

I'm surprised you're near a computer after the September you had! ;)

And you're up at 4 in the morning! Don't you people have to fly planes and stuff?

Did I mention that I just got hired by Seoul Tourism to do a blog thing for them? Only about three days (minus flights), but hey, free trip to Asia. And a full week to prepare! Got any transcontinental suggestions for me, Doug (or others)?

ahhh... i felt relieved! but i felt like i did bad on the AT simulation part. I had my test in this order:

1. dials: breeze
2. Scan: breeze, but pay attention to the changing ranges!
3. angles: breeze
4. math: breeze, just study r x t = d HARD
5. Letter factory was a breeze... i think the hardest parts were the questions that ask you what you just did, and how many more letters did you need to complete the remaining boxes, and what colors would be those letters.
6.AT scenario: much harder than i anticipated.. word of advice is.. don't click on the airplanes until you know you are ready to handle the load. I got screwed over cause i thought i could take all the planes in at once...
7. Analogies: breeze, although i guess a lot :/
8.Experience part: breeze, but there are like... 135 questions! i think they are trying to see if you get mad easily here...

Sure buddy,

Here's a tip: Always drink the water!

Let me know how that tip works out for ya :)
