Hello,
I was wondering if I go to my PCP for heart palpitations and he determines that there is no reason for concern and he does not send me to a cardiologist, will the FAA require a lot of tests? Will this be required if every time I get a medical? I understand if something of concern is found that I need to go through the tests. I just don't want to open a can of worms that cost me tons of money because if the FAA wants the tests and my PCP does not feel they are not needed my insurance won't cover them.

You need to provide the records to the FAA. They may be satisfied or may ask for more tests.

It will be required only one time.

Remember, falsifying your medical application can result in fines, jail time, loss of certificates. Better to be honest.
 
Thanks for the information. I just re-read my post and I did not mean it to sound like I was not going to report it. I meant, I hope I am not opening a can of worms. If everything is fine on the tests can the AME issue the medical or will it have to go to the FAA?
 
AME has discretion but should send the records to the FAA for review. It depends on what your doctor did for an evaluation.
 
Before you visit your PCP try eliminating caffeine from your diet. The palpitations may stop on their own.
 
My pcp did ekg and blood work, he told me there is nothing to worry about. Do I need to go to an AME and get a new medical or can I fly on my current medical? Would it be easier to get medical now instead of three years from now because of recency of the ekg and blood work?
