Heading to Detroit...

Looks like the Detroit metro area is going to be my refuge for awhile. Im not one to pass up a potentially huge opportunity even if it is gonna take two years.

In the mean time does anyone have an ear in the Detroit metro av world? FO openings, Dawging, even teaching. I'm coming from the west coast so it's like the new frontier to me. Iv visited for couple month stints and talked to a couple local companies but it's not the same as living there. Any insight on anything in the Detroit area, thanks in advance
 
Pinnacle/Mesaba, Compass, Spirit and soon ASA have bases in DTW that are hiring. USAJet, IFL Group, Murry, Kalitta Charters, Royal also do business up there.

Crock, your probably right I should be sorry for myself, but the pay off could be huge! You think it's pretty bad? Let's go Oakland county area, what do you know? Thanks in advance
 
Yeah I spent prob around 11 years in the Ann Arbor/Yspi area. So im not just saying it to be sarcastic :)

Are you looking to fly for an Airline? Charter? Flight Instruct?
 
Wow you were in the relatively nicer parts. Well what's life without an adventure :-/ (there's no place like home, there's no place like home).

Honestly I know I could prob get on with Mesaba, graduated with a now Capt, but I'd much rather non airline work. I'm willing to commute a bit depending on schedule. Doesn't have to be full time, just looking for a good place to settle then I'll worry about full time gig.

Don't forget your Kevlar. Something with a high capacity mag would be good too. There are jobs to be had there. The part 91 stuff is going to be better on the north side of town where the money is. Southern is maintain freight and in the middle you'll need the two items above.
 
Hey Scotty if you find anything good let me know. I couldn't keep a job there (one that paid) and had to bail...like 4 different times. I grew up on the East side burbs and would love to get home more than two weekends a year. As far as the body armour goes....he's not kidding in some parts. Just remember the inner city is pretty much dead so there really isn't any reason to be hanging around there. And go out and buy some real winter clothing by October.

Yea, last time I was out there we went and discharged a few rounds at the range and killed some clay. Gotta say Michigan let's you do things California would never :-D. Truthfully I'm gonna be in the Troy/Rochester area hopefully building time while someone I know completes the buying process of a turboprop pusher :-)

Good to know!!! That will be on my top 5, I'm still maybe 2 months from moving. I must be the only person moving TO Detroit Metro these days, everyones trying to bug out
