Having your App pulled at DAL

Does anyone know if there’s an average time between having your app pulled for scoring and the actual scoring to take place? Just wondering if I’m out of luck this time around.

"this time around?"

Are there only certain times where they review applications?

Ok let’s go with “review” then. Also I said “this time around” because I was told if you don’t receive an interview invite your app won’t get pulled for another 12 months.

iirc I remember reading somewhere that it’s possible to have your app pulled more than once in a 12 month period.

What they said at the job fair is essentially, if you've been reviewed in July and get a check airman letter in September, great, but does that really change anything? At most you've given what, 20 hours of OE? 12 months later on the other hand... you're probably far more competitive in a lot of ways. And guys were driving themselves crazy going to different job fairs every 3 months and they were the same applicant as before.

If it's due to an internal rec, the email they send to the employee says they'll review it within 30 days. How long 'til you get the invite? Who knows. That timeline constantly changes.

Career fair? No way to know how long it would take to get to your app, get you on the interview list, and send the email out. I was hopeful for 90 days, doubtful for another 90, and then back to the drawing board...

Keep after it, stay positive, and NEVER GIVE UP!!! It will happen!

And no, I'm not "announcing" anything yet! Hopefully soon!

could be 1 week to invite, could be 1 year...just depends how close you fit the mold they are looking for.

It worked for me. My friend put in the internal rec and I got an invite about 2 mos. later. I had moved into the training center in that time frame and added that to my application, so I’m not sure how much that helped as well. TT was 5,000ish. Good luck. Seems like a great place to work and I’m very excited.

A good friend of mine just got hired at Delta. A 121 Regional FO 2500TT (Over 1,000 Part 91 Multi TPIC). No internal recs. He made sure his application was absolutely perfect before publishing it. Got an invite and interview within 2 months. I kid you not.

I'm not sure what's so crazy about that, it happens daily.
I don't think it's crazy so much as confusing. It makes me ask what I'm doing wrong that a guy in his early 20s with 2500 hours has on his app that makes him more qualified than me?

I feel like I know the answer. I'm just not doing the right stuff get get my app reviewed. Obviously, I guess.

I ain't mad, though... Or jealous. Just frustrated. But taxes frustrate me also, but it's just the way of life.

I'm speaking "to the room" here and not specifically at you here so don't hate me.

The absolute worst thing one can do is try to compare experience by not having that persons application in hand.

And large organization is going to look at the various profiles of people who are successful as new hires and you're going to try to look for similar profiles in your applicant pool.

It's not a numbers game at all and the people that haven't cracked that code yet are heavily frustrated. Make sure your application is sharp and tells ——>YOUR<—— story because a human is going to read it to try to create a mental picture of where you've been, where you are and where you want to go.

Did you answer the question honestly or did you answer the question with want you think the evaluator wants to hear?

Is it frustrating? Absolutely. But there are all sorts of resources like the Delta Pilot Recruitment Facebook page where you can ask questions and get an expert opinion because you're not speaking with interns, you're speaking with selection/recruitment.

Speaking of interns, a large percentage of the wunderkind didn't roll out of bed and get an interview. A lot of those were interns who understood that it was a multi-tiered opportunity where it's a continual interview process. Worked hard, arrived early, stayed late.

Ok, I'm babbling.

No hate all, my man. I'm close to grokking everything you said.

Lol and comparing applications IS the worst thing we can do, but you know what? So is calling your ex when your drunk, but we still do that. Humans gunna human.

THIS. After talking with my friend, a few big takeaways:

Anyone you hire to do application review does not know all the Delta secrets. There were things on my friend's app that were not as recommended by the review service, and he still got the interview. He also got it with no job fairs, no internal recs, and no references associated with Delta on his application. However, he did recommend an application review service. They will thoroughly help you in fleshing out your application so as @Derg says they can get a good narrative of who you are, and what YOUR story is. Sometimes that's difficult to convey, and an app review company most definitely can help with that without knowing any of Delta's top secret "formulas." The app review service will also help catch glaring mistakes that even after hours of pouring over it and printing it out you completely missed.

Lastly, make sure your application is perfect, polished, and reviewed before you publish it (for those who have not applied yet). If you have no "feet in the door" so to speak this is a great way to get your application viewed fresh from the get go.

A thorough, detailed, accurate, honest, followed the instructions application is what they want. Within that the meat of your "story" as said by your application of course is what they want as well. My friend shared with me his application, and it is impressive, but for many of us shows that the job is not out of reach. @Derg , I didn't find it crazy, and I'm very happy for my friend, but I was surprised by the minimal flight time given his background. He is proof that you don't need to come from the military with minimal flight time or have 3,000-4,000+ hours given the right credentials.

My initial post was merely to serve as optimism, and encouragement for those pursuing a career with Delta. They are hiring, and they are looking to anyone who applies. Don't give up thinking you're lost in a big stack. If you meet their criteria, I believe it's safe to say you'll hear from them at some point if you're what they're looking for.

Example:

"What is todays date?"

Good answer: "Today is Tuesday, December 19th 2017."

Rotten answer: "Assists captain in safe operation in complex airspace in a multi-million dollar transport class turbojet aircraft serving a mutiplex of airlines including SouthernJets, AgrarianAir and Untied Airlines where, on the full EFIS display, the date reads 12/19/17 tues"
