Does anyone know if Hageland is hiring any new pilots this Spring? Looking to get up to AK and heard thats a good company.

Email your resume up there. They usually respond pretty quick. They were hiring about this time last year so see what they say.

Per their website:

Hageland Aviation Services tests applicants for pilot, dispatcher and aircraft mechanic for alcohol and the following five controlled substances: PCP, Cocaine, Amphetamines, Marijuana, and Opiates. All covered employees are tested prior to employment.

Looks like most of Alaska cannot apply....

Oh, hilarious! :sarcasm:

To the OP:

Hageland would be a decent company, but there are lots of decent companies. Best bet to get on in Southwest AK is to be in AK headset in hand and pounding on doors. Also check out Grant and Ryan Air. Yute Air has ads out for a spring class, 500TT mins, although the only thing they have is 207s. That said, once you are in Bethel networking is easy. In SE Air Excursions and Wings of Alaska would be good bets, and both of those are used to hiring lower 48 people for summer gigs, which is a great way to get AK time and move on to someone different.

I imagine pprag will chime in soon with 17 eloquent paragraphs so I'll leave it at that......

I know you're just being humorous but for the ill-informed, that's just a standard DOT 5-panel drug screen. You get those pretty much where-ever you go.

I am pretty sure we are, last I heard there was going to be a March GS. Might be more competition than usual with the Disco channel show airing this week, than again it may discourage folks. Anyways, we are having recurrent GS in Feb and the official word will be put out then.

Yute is ramping up, as is Wings, both would be good bets.

I heard Grant is not holding a GS this spring, but that's just hearsay.

What can a 2500 hour pilot with mostly Alaska time expect to make with Hageland or Grant his first year? What about after a few years? I am looking for a career change

About 1000 in DHC-2, 250 in C-206 both on floats, the rest mostly in taildraggers, I haven't flown for a job in 4 years but still fly alot for recreation. I got my ATP MEL last year, but just enough time to get the MEL rating. I am really interested in the two week on/off schedule and was wondering what pay is like first year, and if there is much pay increase after a couple of years. Also how long to advance to the C-208. Is Hageland and Grant about the same pay?

Thanks for the responses

I did a phone interview with them and thought the whole bit was a little unprofessional. They asked me a bunch of random questions and ended the phone interview very strangely. Didn't return any of my phone calls or emails, one way or the other. The person I talked to on the phone seemed to be on his period. Overall, unimpressed.

Do you think they were impressed with you?

I thought I did my best answering their questions of alaska is cold, can you hang? How many airplanes do we have? Where do we fly to? Granted I researched the company before calling them and had a good idea on these questions. The lack of professionalism of the phone interview, the way they handled the decision, etc. was awful. No more, No less, just stating my experience. I hear the company is actually good to work for, I just think they can handle their interview process like the professionals they claim to be.

My interviews in Ak were the same but my take was that employers don't sugarcoat anything. They ask what they want to know...direct questions...they don't beat around the bush. I have never been asked, "what is your best quality," or "tell me about a time you.....' Usually it goes something like, "where are you from", "where have you been flying", "you ever bend an airplane" ...and that's about it. A little company overview. End of interview.
I like it this way.

I talked to Hageland a couple of years ago and remember something about 2500tt to fly the Caravan....I could be way off.
