GTA Air

Anybody know of them with some first hand knowledge? I've applied but just wondering what the scoop is beyond their Bonanza going to HRL and LRD and their twin cessnas. Pay qol and so forth.

I could not find anything here from the past other than a couple mentioning they "wouldn't do it." Why? I know they got the PFT thing and I am definitely not interested in that at all just wondering if there was a legit side to the company at all.

I'm based right down the taxiway from them, and I know several former pilots from GTA. There was a facebook group titled "GTA air survivors" which pretty much sums up the company.

1st and most important, their planes are in HORIBLE mechanical condition. One of my friends had a total electriacl failure in IMC. Another flying the 402 had a fuel line back off and spray the turbocharger with raw fuel. Their solution, "go to auto zone, buy a wrench and tighten it back on" (no, I'm not making that up).

The pay stinks.

Only two of their planes have any deice equipment, yet they fly all through the winter regardless of weather conditions.

I honestly can't understand why the FAA hasn't shut them down.

Thanks for the heads up! I am not really surprised. I'm getting frustrated with Martinaire totally not responding to me at all, anything going on with them this month? Vacations?

I dont know where else to go around dallas for a legit 135 cargo and I'm 200 shy of having the 2k for fedex.

There's better out there than GTA. They don't provide housing for their pilots at the the layover. Most pilots hang out in the FBO. The pay is not very good. I got a call from GTA when I was a new hire at "the company". They saw my resume on Climbto350 and was anxious to hire me. I gave them the thanks, but no thanks because I was about a year into a far better company. Anytime an operator contacts you when you don't even query or apply for them...you can kind of get an idea of what goings on there.:dunno:

The CP is totally swamped with getting the 1900s on line. In about 2 months, we will need 2 new 208 pilots to replace the guys who are upgrading to those runs.

Hang in there.

I hear ya. Good news on the 1900s. Really be cool if eventually ya'll get more SW4s.

I used to run in to their pilots now and then when I was at FLX. They seemed...less than happy. And they made about half what I did for flying a very similar airplane.

I work with them their dispatcher, they do a good job and seen the bonaza, and it looked nicer than most. As or other 135 ops in texas, there is alliance out of denton, berry aviation in san marcos, ameristar in addison, sierra west in el paso ( their main office is in sacramento ca, but always keep their a/c in elp). IFL usually has a convair and or their 727 in pil full time.

If you live in Dallas, I suggest applying for American Eagle. Also, try looking around DAL or ADS and checking into one of the many jet charter companies. Some of them may be looking for pilots. There is a part hauler up in DTO (Alliance Air Charter) that may be hiring FO's. They fly Shorts. Best of luck!
