Any other ways to determine groundspeed in flight other then the following:
1. GPS
2. Flight planing
3. E6B- knowing distance and time

Hi Im not sure if you want to know other ways to measure distances to divide by the time it takes to fly and find GS,sometimes i use DME or the time to cross two VOR radials if I know the distance to the station [ one- in -sixty rule]
Dont know if this helps

Most DME units have a groundspeed/time to station feature. It is only accurate if you are going directly to/from a VOR, but it is another way to determine groundspeed.

have a car drive directly underneath you and keep up. Then ask them how fast they were going.

Yup, that tecnique is recommended in the AIM and is what the DE is looking for when he asks you to calculate groundspeed.
