Hey everyone,

Just looking to see if anyone has gone through GRC's dispatch program. I'm looking at possible schools to attend other then IFOD in DFW because it would be a spendy jump (but very doable), so I'm looking at somewhere a little closer to home. Anyway, just wanted to hear about any experiences or opinions that you might have had! ANYTHING HELPS! Thanks everyone.

I was just looking at their webpage on it yesterday. It's definitely a time commitment; I think it was something like three semester's worth of work, all classroom time. Even though it's only about 15 minutes away from me, I can't get away from my job for that long.

Yeah, I noticed the three different ways of doing the program. The only option I would concider is the FAA minimum 200 hr course

I have no knowledge about GRCC. I will say, you know your situation and goals better than anyone. So do what is best for you. In reality, it doesn't matter how you get your license.

I have no stats on it but I am guessing you will find that most dispatcher went through a 6 week course. That is what I did because it fit my needs.

If you are working towards a college degree and are picking the license up in the process then go for it. But if you are looking to get your license and then head into the work force quickly, spending 3 semsters might not be cost effective.

Again, it all comes down to what suits you, your needs and goals.

Best of luck

I am not familiar with GRCC. I attended FlightSafety International at LGA. It was relatively inexpensive, and if you do not live there, you should be able to find a crashpad to stay in for 6 weeks, there are a ton of them by the airport. The other school I would look at going to is Sheffield because they offer boarding. Hope this helps!

Yeah, I've done the research on Sheffield and I'm impressed however its 2000 plus miles from home, so it may be out of the questions. Anyone else have any other info on this school? I sent a couple of email to the main guy and called him but still no answer ! Oh well, Memorial Day weekend! Thanks again everyone

Sheffield
