Great Chicago Schools?

Im in LA now but was thinking about ATP somewhere but now I am looking deeper into maybe a school in Chicago to study because my family is there and I am recently married and it would be easier on my wife to have my family there while I study. I would like to go to a good school but get it over with ASAP to get my career going....any suggestions?

Is Chicago a good city with lots of options?

Chicago is heaven. I lived in the area for 7 years and loved every minute of it, and yes, even when there were snow showers 32 inches deep and there were "flesh freeze warnings" issued. If you're from LA, you're in for a shock in weather. However, the summers are very pleasant. As far as flying goes, I did all mine at VPZ porter county municipal in Indiana, about an hour train ride from downtown at Donnair flying warriors and a baron. At VPZ, there is also Eagle aviation, which flies cessna 172's. They are a cessna pilot place and have Sallie Mae financing available last I heard. The facilities are great and you're cross countries take you to Midway (C), Kalamazoo (TRSA), Gary (D) and South Bend (C). This is the only first hand stuff I have but I've hear really good things about the guys at Romeoville, IL at Lewis University. The CFI guys run training out of there even if you aren't a student at Lewis and it's just south of the city. Hope that helps.

There are a whole bunch of options. I guess it just depends on where in "Chicago" you would be living. SSSSuuupperr North-Side, West Side or the Soooouth Siiiiede!

I have lived in all areas and all are great! Really they are!

North-Side you have Skill Aviation at Waukegan, Windy City Flyers (and others) at Chicago Executive!

West-Side there is Schaumburg Flyers at Schaumburg airfield, TEA (and others, just stay away from IAA) at Dupage, Lumanair at Aurora.

South-Side you have A&M at Clow and I do not know if there is an FBO or school out of Lewis (other than the university)!

There are many options in the area, with that comes many variances in price as well.

Good Luck with your decision!

PGA gave a pretty good overview. The only place I have flown with is A and M on Clow Field in Bolingbrook, IL. They are top notch. From rumor only I would stay away from American Flyers... This is purely word of mouth, but from what I have heard they really underestimate their prices.
