Well THIS is awkward!
Saw this today while in the checkout line.

I'm going to steal a quote from one of my favorite comedians.

"The definition of a terrorist is a person that uses fear to change people's behavior. So what do you call Glenn Beck, Wolf Blitzer, Racheal Madow, Nancy Grace and CNN? Freaking terrorists."

Not too far from the point either.

I was in the checkout line with my daughters the other day and saw that. I thought about snapping a pic of that rag for this very reason. I figured it might convince me to buy it just to read, and I could look myself in the mirror if any of my money went to support that.

"Do you read (insert filth paper here)?"
"No, my eyes are connected to my brain."

It is my opinion the 1st amendment doesn't give you the right to be a dumb ass. In this case, the writers of that article.
It absolutely does, and this is a near-inviolate right - and should be.

A functioning democracy depends on it.

With rights come responsibilities! Nothing is unqualified.

I respect your right to be a dumbass, hmm...ok

The beauty of my statement, it is my opinion. :)
actually that statement of the original post would be directly against the 1st Amendment. It allows everyone, even the dumb asses to say what the want (and that's not my opinion)

Unless the government is preventing you from saying it...nothing is being violated
The government may not: a) prohibit one’s own expression; b) prevent one from receiving another’s expression; c) compel one to express certain views; d) foster adherence to an ideological viewpoint; or, e) compel one to subsidize speech to which one objects. It is the right to express one’s beliefs, without any form of governmental interference, that is at the heart of “free speech.”

(there are exceptions..i.e. hate speech, slander, safety and some health concerns) but who determines what those statements are...well people are given PhD's and Nobel's to try and figure it out.

You can say whatever you want, the same with I can criticize as much as I want of what you say....and I wouldn't be labelled against free speech
