Uh yeah weren’t around for 2018 were you I’m guessing? 38 days without a paycheck and then screwed up paychecks for the next 6 months. I’m done being a political pawn.

Difference between 2018 and now, is somehow both staffing and morale in the FAA is significantly worse.

I'm done being a pawn. I highly doubt it takes 30+ days this time for ATCers to realize its unsafe for us to be plugged in working live traffic 6 days a week, while stressing about when we will get paid.
 
Sorry. It sucked being a kid of parents that went though a few bouts of "Hopefully Bank of America is going to honor the voucher this week, but lets start 'rolling change' just in case they don't.".

We'd end up pooling all of the pocket change around the house, sitting at the grocery table and effectively 'rolling quarters' to take down to the bank to get paper currency to go buy food during the IOU/voucher period.

10 pound bag of pinto beans, some 'throw away' ham hocks (which were super cheap before FoodNetwork 'discovered' hem) and tortillas, we were good for a couple weeks between bean soup, chili and really sad burritos.

Thanks politicians. Hope they get their sound bites and Twitter 'owns'

Yep, that’s about all it’s good for. Some of us still out here pretending the Republicans are a serious party with a plan and a philosophy of governance but they’re beholden to the weirdo wing that idolizes a fictional period of America where everyone was their own master living on a homestead and there was no need for a federal government. In fact a lot of them view ANY federal employee, especially ones making a good wage and with a union and a pension, as a burden on society and “other”, and the weirdest ones (who are driving the bus) would be more than happy to threaten violence against them under auspices of “taxation is theft!!!”.

Sad fact is that any extremist like this overshadows the fact that there indeed is federal government fraud, waste, abuse, and general bloat that does need to be legitimately checked. From the large ones like DOD to the DHS to nearly across the board,’with some agencies much more than others.
 
It’d be interesting to see all airports across the country as VFR uncontrolled fields with only a CTAF and for Class A airspace to become same. :)

Although a few accidents did happen in 1981 during the PATCO strike where lack of ATC was a tertiary factor.

Shrug. They can come back to the table when they have adults ready to have adult discussions instead of “taxation is theft!” “it’ll trickle down!” And “privatize everything!!!”

They is the entirety of Congress. Takes all of them to make a difference. But they don’t, and they won’t. As it’s not in any of their best interests to. All they will do is either rabble with BS, or say nothing, all with the same results. And round and round it goes.
 
Humor me this, I’ve always heard we can print our own way with the dollar being the reserve currency and that increasing debt ceilings are irrelevant because all we have to do is service that debt. Well shoot, inflation being what it is and soaring interest rates, how expensive is it going to be to service that increasing debt? And where is that money gonna come from, increased taxes?

You could ask the last three Democrats that lived in the Whitehouse. They seemed to have figured out a way to push things in the right direction.
