Good Planning.....uh, no.

If that is a Sam Chui photo, which I think it is because I recognize it, then to say that it is a photoshopped phony is a serious accusation.

Sam is a professional photographer who has worked for airlines around the world, dedicates countles hours uploading incredible, rare photos to airliners.net so that we may all enjoy them, for no pay. His livelihood depends on good credibility because he shoots airplane photos for a living.

If it is his work then the picture is real.

Besides, there are a dozen other pictures of that Russian aircraft type and another or two doing the same thing: crossing departure ends at less than 35 feet (or less than 10!).

A compliment to the photographer, though, for capturing an exciting scene, when the photo seems to exciting to be true!

I know someone who did a flaps 5 PKOF, 28K, MGTOW takeoff in SAN that wasn't a whole lot different than that...

I remember reading where some of the russian pilots like to keep the plane on the runway longer to gain speed in climb. Dont know how true it is, but jeez, they (the passengers) certainly get their money's worth!

Its a real pic. Theres another one just like it of that plane taking off going the exact opposite direction.

I'm almost certain this picture is photo-shopped. Looks more like landing flaps than takeoff. If not......

I don't know if it's real or not but it looks like the cowls are 'translated' (ie translating cowl thrust reversers) - you can see a black band on the rear of the #1 and #4 engine like the cowling is slid back. Looks to me like the reversers are open.

As stated before, thats a VERY SERIOUS accusation youre making there J, you better watch it. ITS REAL

Whoa - I didn't say it wasn't real - I said I didn't know....what I said was that it looked to me like the reversers are out.

He can't be to good of a photographer. After all, look how far down the runway the plane was before he photographed it.:sarcasm:

Sam Chui indeed

over the water:

RA-86140 (cn 51483211102) No more runway left = Must rotate! Look at where the 1000 ft marker sign and where the plane is! One heart-stopping takeoff! The front gear of the plane actually got up before the '1' marker but the body remains heavy. I think the pilots know exactly where to rotate. The Ilyushin also kicked up a large sandstorm on the beach and it was barely above it after finally airborne. IL86 is such a beast! [Nikon D2x, High speed crop mode]

RA-96006 (cn 74393201003) Thrilling takeoff, as she used the whole runway, I thought at one second she won't make it! It was a thrill, she took off right at the end of runway marking! Woo! Also please see PhotoID 321482 for the lifted up scene. [Nikon D100]

Funny how the caption talked about the 1000' marker... I then pictured lining up a C-150 at the marker and getting off the ground and up before that plane actually did...:rawk:

Talk about BALLZ, that's just nutty(NPI). Were they taken in the U.S., if not is that perfectly legal in the U.S.? I guess they wouldn't have to worry about the flare to much if they had to ditch at the last minute.

Jason, I agree. That's why I came to that conclusion. However, for the record, I do not care either way.:D

Oh, and our buddy Kingairer was just joshin' ya. He's a wild and crazy sumbitch.:insane:
