First priority - take care of yourself.
Second priority - take care of those you love.
Everything else is gravy…
This is true and also something I have challenges with.
I’m going to make this all about me, for a moment, because I can get some stuff untangled.
I can literally spend a week trying to get everything done so I can enjoy a single “free and clear” day off. House projects, social commitments, the challenges of working with people who are also my friends so that work-life balance is absolutely decimated, some professional commitments requiring looking forward 60 days in the future and providing an answer
today about avilability, looking 45 days ahead every month for schedule bidding.
So the fight is always, “I need to be in the present. I need to sit, not think about what’s happening next year, next month, next week, nothing more than being in the moment I’m in and that’s challenging.
I realized that I take care of work, take care of family but man, it’s hard trying not to be the last person on my own list of priorities. I need to learn the power of “no” and “not right now”.
Ok, that was all about me. Rant over, carry on!
