Going to India :)

I went to ATP 4-6 months ago. I went to Craig, worst ATP location ever. I got a job offer flying for HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.) in India. It's a company that makes fighter jets, and some avionics for Indian Airforce, but they do have a flight department. I recently went to India for vacation, and I had my license with me, so I went to (TVM), and flew from their flight club. It was my first time flying in India. Anyway, I'll be leaving for India on April 17th. I might come back to the U.S. when the economy start getting better, or I can apply with in India to fly for Air India, Jet airways etc!

Good luck to everybody!

I challenge Tony's idea of ATP CRG being worst ever. It isnt. More experience there than tons of other flight schools combined. And they hold a high standard. Good luck in India.

It's a ratings mill, just like ERAU, etc. Of course its bad.

Good luck Tony. I hope it works out for you down there.

Congrats and good luck, man! Sounds like an exciting move. Keep posting here and let us know about it, would ya?

I've been in and out of VOBG, Banagalore old airport, where HAL is. Nice nice quite airport because they shut everything down there except the charter flights. So what will you be flying there. I go into that airport usually at least once a week to pick up the chief prime minister or some other government offical. Look for the Silver/Green B200 with a huge freakn bird on it. Have any questions just ask me.

Ratings mill?

Ah, the voice of abject inexperience.

so are FBO's or wait... any other flight schools!!! What do people want when they go to flight schools???? Ratings???

Ah to address the subject of ratings mill - or puppy mill - as terms for flight schools that spoon feed the information. It's always great when schools can convince the students that they're ready to be airline pilots the minute they are done with their Comm Multi Instrument.

How many of you went to ERAU? Have you seen the hand holding that occurs there? Why should I be bitter, it's not like I failed an ERAU checkride. It's not like I did bad in school.

BTW the facepalm is the weakest thing I've ever seen. Talk about not bringing any discussion to a topic - just a lame attempt at throwing yourself into a debate. Oh wait, no one is having a debate, you're defending ATP and ERAU for some god-aweful reason by a character attack, though quite mild. (See quote #2)

Seriously people....

A former ATP student comes onto the ATP forum to tell us of his new job. Yet some are so closed minded, bitter or just flat out immature; that they insist on turning every thread into a debate.
I know things are tough all over. We're sorry you lost your ride, got divorced, have inferiority complex, or are just a bitter person. But seriously....GROW UP PEOPLE!!!!

I wish he'd come here earlier. Could have saved him some cash. :D

Most likely Dornier Do 228. HAL used to make these under license from Fairchild-Dornier (Germany)

No offense, but if you just went through ATP within 6 months, whats your time. Unless your an Indian citizen, you won't be sitting right seat, and you need at least 100 hrs PIC by DGCA to sit left seat, so I'm confused?? They have a bunch of those in VOMM (chennai) I only see them out at night, loud little Garretts.
