Go Jet

Inside the Company: Great company, wonderful benefits, and we fly JETS.

Outside the Company: Well, look at all those wonderful threads.

Don't ignore information from outside the company.

One of our guys got hired as a street captain on the CRJ-700 over there, and resigned during training after being verbally abused (and educated) by "other airline" pilots during sim training (if you know who I mean).

Just FYI.

TSA?

That's the story. Now, his side of the story was that he was verbally abused. It could have been that they just pulled him aside and educated him on it. Either way, the result was that he took a look around and resigned.

Goto GoJet's and you won't be riding on XJ in the jumpseat. GoJets is purposefully not in the FOM under reciprocal jumpseat agreements. You are welcome to buy a ticket however.

Mesaba has had it's trouble already with alter-ego airlines.

I doubt that story, at least the resigned part because he was "verbally abused". Probably did something else. I mean, some GJ guys were kind of shunned but there was never any actual confrontations that I've seen. Although, some TSA guys have been fired for denying JS a few years ago. GJ is just another crappy airline with crappier work rules. Don't go. The only guys going there now are furloughed UA with the jobs agreement.

You could be right. It's his story, but he's very adamant about it.

Captains were fired for managing their jumpseats?

There were never ANY TSA pilots fired for denying jumpseats. Yes, they were called on it, but never fired. There were confrontations between TS and GJ crews in the beginning (hotel vans, blocked radios, etc)...nothing as of recent but at the onset, yes.

To the OP. Go to the Mind Numbing sub-forum in General chat and read up. Nothing has changed. They are unfortunately still running new classes. They are a mix of UAL and TSA furloughees. Yet with all the thousands of pilots on the street, they are still having problems filling classes, why might that be?

Pretty juvenile behavior for pilots who preach, and want to be seen and treated as, professionals.

LOL. Well, I think that TSA saw the writing on the wall, which has absolutely come to the worst case scenario, and they got their digs in while they could. Eh. I'm not gonna fault them.

No one gets brownie points for being professional for that situation, and even if they did get a pat on the back, it doesn't pay the mortgage nor milk on the table.

You should hear the stories out here at Mesaba during the bankruptcy, company threatened a 19% paycut or something extraordinary. All that "juvenile" kicking and screaming by a bunch of pilots won out, and told the company they'd send them the bill for the rent-a-wreck to go back home. They were more than willing to leave the pax and shut the place down. The company caved.

Sqeeky wheel gets the grease, and if it doesn't, it might as well squeek.

I might give you the blocked radios (maybe), but it would be a cold day in hell before I would have shared a hotel van with a GoJet a-lister.

Nothing says you have to ride with someone you don't want to. But messing with ATC comms is going a bit too far, whether it be blocked comms, or juvenile comments over the radio. Outside the jet, now its a free for all IMO. :)
