GNS430 Question

How do I turn on the voice portion of the TIS system on a 430. All I can find in the manual is "this is done during installation." Thanks in advance.
 
Not sure but try holding down the enter button as the unit powers up. That will take you into the setup menus.
 
The 330 has to be properly wired into the audio panel. From what I understand the voice you are referring to is not related to the 430. The 430 is simply a graphic display for the "traffic". For example, you could heard the voice if there was no 430 installed in the aircraft but there was a 330 wired into the audio panel.

That's just my understanding of the wiring setup behind the panel. It's not worth anything. Ive never claimed to be much of an avionics guru.

Check the audio panel. A lot of birds I've seen have it tied into the ADF IDENT function on the audio panel. If that's off you won't hear it, if the IDENT is on you will.

This is of course if you don't have a RMI or ADF in the airplane.
 
voice option, as noted above, is part of the GTX-330 not the GNS-430. Get your mechanic to start it up in the maintenance mode and you can adjust the volume and mail/female voice among other things.

Don't let your mechanic mess with stuff you don't know anything about, though. ;)

We have and ADF/RMI in the airplane.

Alright. I'll go into the 330's features and see if I can find the proper way to set it up. Thanks guys.
