Gleim CFI Renewal

So i'm doing the renewal right now and it's insanely easy...The system keeps telling me to slow down and take it more seriously, although i've gotten 100% on all questions thus far. If I keep going at the current pace, can I be penalized for my times? ex- It says 1-2 minutes per page on the study unit (20 pages). I'm spending about 5 minutes on each study unit speed reading...

How do you like the Gleim one so far? I've got to renew mine next month, assuming I don't find a job flying that can get it renewed...

It's so easy a caveman can do it...Truth be told, after all you go through for your initial CFI, i'm amazed the FAA allows this.

I just finished and got my paperwork in to them. Was pretty easy to figure out everything. The only thing I didn't like about it was the built in TSA renewal.

How about the online stuff for the FOI written, just as good I imagine...I need to get the writtens done for my CFI,CFII hopefully this week

Plug for American Flyers unlimited renewal course for $125(?). I'm on my 3rd renewal so around $40/pop right now and it goes down from there. Very cost effective.

:yeahthat:

I have used them 3 times myself. However, do you stay enrolled in the program if you don't use them during your renewal year because the FAA signed it off your renewal during another checkride?

If you want to use AF's ACR service it is an additional $50

Not sure but I would guess yes. Call them to find out but I can't see why not.

I just drove to my FSDO. But you are correct $50 + mailing so really around $60 or so.

I've got to do this, have not used a CFI for 20 years, but now I have one that will expire in a few months.
It's just a computer read and answer course? It will take me longer, I am completely out of the loop.

itchy - that's pretty much it. You Answer some questions, do a little reading and studying, and answer some more questions.

If you go here, you can actually try a unit for free, and see how you like it!

Just read and answer questions. It is really straight forward.

If you are really paradnoid you could always print out the pages too.

Well, I used that for twice now. I like it. However, my temp certificate is expired. I forgot who to call? local FSDO or OKC?

Jeff,

You need to call whoever issued it first and inquire about getting a new one. Then call the FSDO.

As regards to American Flyers program. You do not need to renew with them everytime. Once you are in you are in for life with them even if the FAA renews your cert a time or two for you.
