GI Bill and Pilot Training...How does it work?

Here is a question for all the current and former VETS. I understand that the GI Bill will pick up about 60% of the tab for training after you get the PPL. How is this paid and when?

This is how it works. First the Flight School that you choose to do your Training has to be VA (veteran Administations) approve. This means that they have to adhere to certain procedures and policies set by the Government. As a Student if your eligible you have to fill out enrollment forms and submit them to the school and to VA. Once you begin flight training your school will submit other forms stating the amount of flight training you did for that month (hours and cost)..VA will reimburse you for that amount 60%. this would include the aircraft cost, flight instructor cost, any FAA exams (many people dont know this is included) books and materials. You have the option of either recieving a check or having it Direct Deposited into your Bank Account. In addition some flight training is tax deductible with the exception of the initial CFI. The IRS looks at the initial CFI as Flight Training for a new job position and not associated with work you may currently be doing ie work currently for an airline or in the aviation industry. If anyone is reading this thread correct me if im wrong on any information that I submitted.
