Getting a license in canada

Are there any different regultions for getting a PPL or other license in Canada. i know that a PPL in america allows you to fly in canada but i was jsut wondering if there is any different sort of requirements to get a license in Canada or is Canada under the FAA too?

Canada is not subject to the US FAA. From what little I know, I believe the regulations are fairly similar. Consult with a local flight school; they can give you the details on country-specific requirements and costs.

No, Canada is not under the FAA, as it is a US regulatory agency. (Thought that one was obvious) Canadian aviation falls under the authority of Transport Canada.

Rules are very similar, most notable difference is that Canada requires ground school (40 hours) where as no such requirement exists in the US. 40 hours flight time is required, 20 dual, 20 solo, and 2 cross country flights of 150NM. The written test is also required, with 100 questions, 4 sections (like the US) Aeronautics/General Knowledge, Navigation, Meterology, Air Law.
