I wonder if the rich guys who charter these airplanes realize that the guys up front flying them probably have lower experience than the guy flying an RJ because they pay such crap wages? I can barely get a handyman to work for $150/day, for heaven's sake!
I once had a guy who wanted me to fly an open cockpit experimental from West Texas to south Florida in the winter, then pick up a Champ with no electrical system (so flying around airspace on the return), all for the "free flight time". Ummm... no thank you.The same is true for ferry pilots unfortunately.
I can't tell you how many times I ran into guys that would spend 200k on an aircraft with all the bells and whistles... but God forbid they spend more than $100/day on a ferry pilot.
