General question's about airplane rental + DFW area question

Hello forum!

I am currently living in the DFW area and have never rented before. I have my CFI, MEI, and CFII, (which I recently received) but have only soloed per the minimum requirements for my ratings; something like 11 hours. Naturally, I want to gain some personal experience, so I can continue to grow as a pilot. I am interested in the Civil Air Patrol, and need more time to take advantage of the teaching and flying opportunities available with the CAP.

Can any one tell me what their check out flights were like when they went to rent? What kinds of things are generally covered on the ground, and in the air? I am more curious than anything.

Second, and more importantly, I am looking to rent from a place close to me called Skymates. Does anyone have any experience renting from them, or any other words of advice? I don't want to jump into something without covering my bases before hand.

Thanks in advance.

The "Form 5 checkride", as it's called, it nothing more than a PPL practical, if not easier. Nothing you should have issues with since you're a CFI.

slow flight, steep turns, stalls, short field, and an engine failure throw in the mix. You also might have to take a quiz about the aircraft getting checked out in.
