Fuel Injection Bendix RSA

I am trying to figure out if a Bendix RSA has fuel injection nozzles before the intake valve or literally within the combustion chamber. From what I have read, " these nozzles screw into the cylinder head near the intake port." It is hard to imagine that this system could operate with direct combustion chamber injection considering there is no way the fuel system keeps track of what stroke the piston/cylinder is on. I am aware of many automotive fuel injector systems that use an injector per cylinder and inject the fuel on the outside of the cylinder in the intake manifold close to the intake valve, this system does not require a perfectly timed injection, because the fuel spray if not imediately used is still used almost imediately when that cylinder intake valve does open--this is what I am thinking is the way the Bendix works?

Thanks for the help!

The Bendix RSA fuel system is a continuous flow injection system that injects the fuel into the intake port. It is then sucked into the cylinder when the intake valve opens. Only the finest 1950s technology...

If you fly a Cessna 172 with an IO-360 engine, stand in front of the propeller spinner facing aft. Like you would when preflighting...

Look through the right side (Pilot's left) of the cowling, notice the 1/8 of an inch or so silver line? That is the fuel injection line and nozzle for the #2 cylinder.

In injects the fuel into the air intake prior to the valve or the cylinder. When the valve opens the fuel is sucked in. No direct injection on these bad boys.
