Well, so far I have not been prevented by stop-loss or anything else from leaving the Navy. Today is the day. Technically I am still in the navy until August 10th but I am on leave until that day. 11 years and 17 days. Its pretty damn hard to believe that I won't be putting on the uniform next week. It's like Morgan Freeman says in Shawshank Redemption. You get used to the walls to the point you start to depend on them. Well get on with living or get on with dying!
I'm Living baby! Thanks to all who served with me in the Navy over these past 11 years, especially the guys on USS Enterprise who worked for me and for the most part kept me out of trouble.
I don't mean to sound rude, but to those who would normally post a "thanks for your service" post, how about just a simple "congratulations" instead. I have given the navy a lot of me but the navy has given me a lot as well. I leave with no regrets, no wishes I had never joined. I can only hope my kids will someday want to join the navy and share some of the experiences I did; the good, the bad; and the just plain drunk stupid idiotic! Especially the latter.
This is Shooter13 signing off of a jetcareers from a US Navy computer for the last time. Peace!
