Forgot about K-Stones

Went for my physical and was so concerned about my vision and my BP that I forgot to write in that I had lithotripsy (Sound Wave procedure for Kidney Stones) in Dec 02...... Should I just forget it or should I go back??? I feel so stupid for not including it but it didn't hit me until I got home and re-looked at the qustionaire...

What should I do??

I would call your AME and just tell him or her that you forgot it on your questionairre. Usually, it is not a problem. I forgot a small procedure that I had done 5 years ago, and she just added it to my file, and I got my medical no problem. Do tell them though, because you don't want to be caught supposedly "lying" on a flight physical. NOT GOOD.

A buddy of mine had kidney stones when he was young so he put that he had on his medical application. It ended up taking the FAA four months to clear it and send him his first class. I'm certainly not saying that you should lie on your medical, just relaying a personal account.

I had a friend with the same deam. It took him a year to get a waiver after his stone, and then it happened again, so he might be indefinitely DNIF'd I am not saying lie either, I am just telling you the old motto here in the military" Dont volunteer any information". I will leave it at that

I have had kidney stones and reported it. If you have a test showing no residue you will be fine. If you don't, you will have to get one before the FAA will clear you. I have held a first class medical for almost 2 years, and even passed American Eagle's medical. You should get the paperwork and then report it, don't do it without the paperwork though.

Just got the call from my AME. He said I should be getting my medical in the mail. He's mailing all my info to the Feds and told me to expect a special issuance. So, for those of you who have gone through something like this..... what is a special issuance and does this mean that I have to go through this crap every year???
