Foreign IAP's and charts

Helping some friends work on an international world tour in a C421 and they have had trouble finding international charts, short of going to Jepp and paying astronomical amounts of moula. They did find local charts in certain countries but aren't sure how to read it. Like this one. Any help would be appreciated figuring out how to fly these kinds of charts and find sources for international charts for someone who isn't buying copious amounts of Jet A. Thanks!

They have the money for a world tour in a 421, but they can't front the cash for a Jepp trip kit?

Doesn't quite make sense to me.

Well, if theres a better way to save $5,000-$15,000 , I'd be looking for alternatives, too. Even in a 421, I'd hop around the country at the cheapest gas stations, not the expensive airports "just because"

Fly to the FNO NDB and hit it at 2500', fly outbound at 300 or 288 deg (depending on aircraft category), descend to 2000', turn right at 10 DME from the LOC, intercept it, and the FAF is at ABMAR.

Does that help? I think it's actually a well written and straight forward chart, conforming to ICAO standards. Look at a Chinese or Indian DGAC chart if you wanna see confusing!

I guess the multiple holds made it more confusing than need be. Looks like there's a holding procedure over the FAF, the IAF, and RIVNU.

When youre in whatever country you find yourself just buy a local chart. I wouldn't waste my money on Jepp either. Where I is, most the the info hasn't been updated in close to a decade.

How do you plan on getting into that country to buy the charts you need for that country?

In most countries it is not possible, there are no GA plates printed out for sale, if the country is small and you buy the AIP you will have the plates and most charts (outdated) in there. Many countries now have them in digital and you can download and print yourself.

The commercial traffic uses Jepp.

Usually, (filing to get in is much easier than getting out with no charts) after I've landed, when I go to the tower to pay, file and all around get pillaged by Meteo guys I have them scan, print or sell me a chart off their wall. Got them all over this way in the Great Lakes region of Africa. Somalia, South Sudan...
